Ray Badran
Ray Badran is a stand-up comedian and writer known for his offbeat, hilarious observational humour. Originally from Sydney, Ray’s comedy has a global presence where he’s performed in the UK, Europe, America, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. Ray has written comedy for various TV shows, comedians, advertising agencies, theatre, radio, and more. He continues to be recognized as comedy’s finest and funniest which is verified through his Best International Guest Comedian award by the New Zealand Comedy Guild in 2017.
Ray is no stranger to the world’s most prominent comedy festivals where he has performed nine solo shows across Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Brighton Fringe, and more.
As a regular at Sydney Comedy Festival, he’s taken the main stage at the Gala three times in 2014, 2017 and 2024. In 2019, Ray performed, ‘Everybody Loves Ray, Man’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was selected to perform as part of ‘Live at the Edinburgh Fringe’ for Audible.
Ray brought his new show If This Show Sells Out I’ll Do The Last 10 Minutes In A Handstand show to Sydney Comedy Festival in 2024. Following the Festival, he performed Welcome to Raytown at Edinburgh Festival Fringe drawing crowds and delivering laughs during the show’s run. He also performed King of the Table, the hilarious intersection of table tennis and comedy with Mark Silcox.
Badran was the creator of the Comedy Central Australia/NZ TV show No Experience Necessary, where he travelled to New Zealand to make the greatest sitcom of all time. In the six episode season, Ray jokes with some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s funniest comedians, including Rhys Nicholson, Guy Montgomery, Rose Matafeo, and more. Badran was also the creator of ABC Comedy Podcast Positions Vacant which was ranked as a top 5 comedy podcasts in Australia.
Over the past few years, Ray has been splitting his time between London and Sydney. Ray is a fan favourite around the Sydney comedy scene where he frequents the Comedy Store and often delivers the biggest laughs of the night.
